이번주의 주제는 “어느 교회에 출석하십니까?”예요. 이 질문을 하기 전에 신자인지 아닌지 누군가를 처음 만났을 때 기본적을 묻는 질문이 바로 “Are you a Christian?”이죠. “Are you~” 로 시작되는 말은 너무나 쉽고 간단하지 않아요? “Are you a pastor? ? 당신은 목사님입니까?” 등등…

“Which church do you attend - 어느 교회에 출석하세요?”할때 What 이 아니라 Which 를 사용한다는 것에 주의하세요. Which 와 What 을 혼동하는 경우가 많아요. 예를 들면 “What country are you from ? 어느 나라에서 왔나요”가 아니라 “Which country are you from” 이 되야겠죠.

“I go to the church every Sunday - 매주 교회에 나갑니다.”에서 go 라는 현재형 동사를 사용했어요. 과거에는 가고 현재나 미래에는 교회에 가지않는다면 현재형 동사를 사용할 수 없지만 주일에는 항상 교회에 가기 때문에 사용할 수 있어요. “ My mother reads the bible every morning ? 나의 어머니는 매일 아침 성경을 읽으신다.” 처럼요.

원인 또는 이유를 나타내는 부사절을 이끄는 것으로 because는 직접적인 심리적, 구체적 원인을 표시하는데 비해 for는 먼저 어떤 말을 하고 그 다음에 그것에 대한 나름대로의 논리적인 이유나 주절에 대한 설명을 말하는데 쓰인다. 또한 for는 문장의 앞자리에서 쓰이지는 못하며 사용빈도가 많지 않으며 격식을 갖추어 말할 때 사용되어진다.

첫 문장에서 상의한다고 할 때 talk 대신에 discuss 를 사용할 수 있어요. 한가지 주의할 점은 discuss란 단어는 ~관해라는 about 이라는 전치사의 뜻이 포함되어 있으므로 discuss about 라고는 절대로 하지 않는 점에 주의!

I’m always depressed and hopeless 에서 always 는 all the time, continually로 바꾸어 사용할 수 있어요. 그리고 always 란 단어가 동사와 동사사이에 위치하고 있다는 것도 눈 여겨 볼 필요가 있지요.

I am so sorry 란 꼭 미안하다는 의미만 있는 걸까요? 우리가 장례식장을 가거나 나쁜 소식을 들었을 때 사용하는 말이에요. 그 외에도 “I am sorry for her. 그녀가 가엾다” 라거나 “I am sorry to leave my friends. 친구를 남겨놓고 가는 것이 유감이다” 라는 표현도 가능해요.

In Your hands are strength and power to exalt and give strength to all. Now, our God we give You thanks, and praise Your glorious name." (2 Thessalonians 3:3) 주는 미쁘사 너희를 굳게 하시고 악한 자에게서 지키시리라 (살후 3:3) But just as He who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: "Be holy, because I am holy." (1 Peter 1:15-16) 오직 너희를 부르신 거룩한 자처럼 너희도 모든 행실에 거룩한자가 되라 기록하였으되 내가 거룩하니 너희도 거룩할지어다 하 셨느니라 (벧전 1:15-16) Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; His greatness no one can fathom. (Psalm 145:3) 여호와는 광대하시니 크게 찬양할 것이라 그의 광대하심을 측량치 못하리로다 (시 145:3) This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. [1 John 4:10] 사랑은 여기 있으니 우리가 하나님을 사랑한 것이 아니요 오직 하나님이 우리를 사랑하사 우리 죄를 위하여 화목제로 그 아들을 보내셨음이니라 (요일 4:10) But You, 0 Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness. (Psalm 86:15) 그러나 주여 주는 긍휼히 여기시며 은혜를 베푸시며 노하기를 더디 하시며 인자와 진실이 풍성하신 하나님이시오니 (시 86:15) And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28) 우리가 알거니와 하나님을 사랑하는 자 곧 그 뜻대로 부르심을 입은 자들에게는 모든 것이 합력하여 선을 이루느니라 (롬 8:28) "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with My righteous right hand." (Isaiah 41:10) 두려워 말라 내가 너와 함께함이니라 놀라지 말라 나는 네 하나님이 됨이니라 내가 너를 굳세게 하리라 참으로 너를 도와주리라 참으로 나의 의로운 오른손으로 너를 붙들리라 (사 41:10) I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.(Philippians 4:13] 내게 능력 주시는 자 안에서 내가 모든 것을 할 수 있느니라 (빌4:13) He who did not spare His own Son, but gave Him up for us all-how will He not also, along with Him? graciously give us all things? (Romans 8:37) 자기 아들을 아끼지 아니하시고 우리 모든 사람을 위하여 내어주신 이가 어찌 그 아들과 함께 모든 것을 우리에게 은사로 주지 아니하시겠느뇨 (롬 8:37) And my God will meet all your needs according to Hisglorious riches in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:19) 나의 하나님이 그리스도 예수 안에서 영광 가운데 그 풍성한 대로 너희 모든 쓸 것을 채우시리라 (빌 4:19) Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you. [1 Peter 5:7] 너희 염려를 다 주께 맡겨 버리라 이는 저가 너희를 권고하심이니라 (벧전 5:7)
